Lucas Schmid, Swiss Citizen Born and grown up in Madrid. He started out learning how to play trombone as an autodidact and later studied Classical music and Jazz in Germany. He played as a freelancer and studio musician many years before becoming member of the big bands of NDR and WDR broadcasting.

He performed among others with Albert Mangelsdorf, Joe Zawinul, Quincy Jones, Paquito D’Rivera, Gary Burton, Al Jarreau, Ray Charles and Maceo Parker. As the Producer/Artist Director of the Big Band he was awarded with two Grammys and three Jazz Awards for his Productions. “Playing music in a duo setup is the demanding challenge for a brass Player, but it also an ideal platform for Musical expression. In the Jazz pianist Erwin Schmidt, I found an outstanding Musical companion and I am looking forward to performing with him.”- Lucas Schmid.

After classical piano formation and Diploma at the Jazz department of the conservatory of the city Vienna Erwin Schmidt works as a pianist and jazz organist (Hammond). Among other things he played with Kevin Mahagoni, Ray Charles, Ed Tippen, Mark Murphy, Carole Alston, Spike Robinson, Lew Tabakin, Heinz von Hermann, Ricky Woodart, Lee Harper, Toninho Horta, Ralph Ericsson, Rudi Berger, Karl Ratzer, Valery Ponomarev, Clark Terry and many other national and international well known jazz musicians.

He toured to Delhi, Kathmandu, Havana, Bangkok, Manila, Hanoi, Mexico and to several European cities. In addition to his many performances, he teaches at the conservatory of the city of Vienna at the college of Art Graz, at the Conservatory Klosterneuburg and several workshops.

The music

Jazz, as another kind of music, is a universal language. It is spontaneous and creative and at the same time I has rules which are to be respected while interpreted.

THE ART OF DUO consists of two gifted, award-winning musicians on trombone and piano who will present a program based on a wide horizon of musician, revisiting Jazz Standards, World music, Latin and Brazilian
